Things to watch:
>>> Can Golden State string together a complete performance? Since going 4-4 before the All-Star break, the Warriors have won six games in a row. However, they haven’t necessarily dominated inferior opponents during that span like many would expect. Last week, Golden State let a John Wall-less Wizards team and the struggling Hawks hang with it late. The Warriors were blitzed in the second quarter Tuesday by Brooklyn before pulling away in the fourth. Now, they face a Spurs team that has given them trouble in recent years. Unlike last month, when Golden State played a depleted San Antonio group, the Spurs will be near full strength Thursday.
>>> How will the Warriors’ center rotation look? Head coach Steve Kerr has started JaVale McGee at center every game since the All-Star break, but he is still open to tinkering with the rotation based on matchups. Zaza Pachulia didn’t play Tuesday against Brooklyn because Kerr reckoned that Jordan Bell matched up better with the Nets’ versatile, undersized second unit. Still, Pachulia’s DNP was somewhat surprising given that David West was out with a right arm cyst and Bell left late in the third quarter with a sprained right ankle. It will be interesting to see what kind of role Pachulia plays Thursday with Bell sidelined and West listed as doubtful.
>>> Is Omri Casspi in line for a breakthrough? Casspi, who carved out a niche early in the season as a rim-cutter, has completely fallen out of the rotation. He has logged DNPs in three of Golden State’s past six games, and he hasn’t scored since Feb. 12. With Patrick McCaw and Andre Iguodala out Thursday, Casspi could finally be poised for significant run. He has shown that, when given the opportunity, he can be productive. In the last game he logged more than seven minutes, he erupted for 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting against Phoenix.
Quotable: “It’s interesting. Every hour, you’ve got teams lose, teams win. You’ve got teams dropping from third to seven. It’s madness, but it’s interesting to watch. It’s fun as a fan to sit back and watch that play out as well.” — Draymond Green on the crowded playoff picture in the Western Conference
