New York City FC takes the 2018 MLS season seriously
The sky blue team won 2-0 against Sporting Kansas City in their visit.
Argentinian Maxi Morález and Paraguayan Jesús Medina were in charge of the goals in a perfect afternoon for the City.
The New Yorkers dominated the midfield at the start of the match. They had timely interceptions, effective possessions, and speed to move forward.
The first goal came after a good recovery. The ball fell to the feet of David Villa, who with great vision found a free Morález, who only had to push the ball.
The visit continued strong at the start of the second half. A great counter-attack, in which defender Ben Sweat participated, ended with a pass into the box for the young Paraguayan to score his debut goal in the MLS.
Kansas City sought a goal with more offensive play, but the only thing they achieved was the expulsion of NYCFC defender Maxime Chanot. Chilean Felipe Gutiérrez could have made it 2-1 with a free kick, but goalkeeper Sean Johnson was attentive to make the save.
The City looks like a serious contender to Toronto FC in the Eastern Conference.
