The Blue Jackets picked up some scoring just before the NHL trade deadline hit on Monday afternoon by acquiring winger Thomas Vanek in a deal with the Vancouver Canucks.
Columbus sent Jussi Jokinen — who cleared waivers at noon Monday — and AHL forward Tyler Motte to Vancouver.
Vanek, 34, has 17 goals and 24 assists in 61 games for the Canucks this season.
This is the second consecutive trade day Vanek has been a part of, as he went from Detroit to Florida last year.
Vanek, who was bought out by Minnesota in 2016, has played in 946 career games for the Sabres, Wild, Wings, Canadiens, Islanders, Canucks and Panthers.
