DAVIS, Calif. — Creighton completed a three-game sweep of UC Davis by scoring three times in the top of the 11th inning for a 10-7 win Sunday.
After UC Davis forced extra innings by scoring in the ninth, Creighton catcher Michael Emodi had the game-winning hit in the 11th.
The Bluejays loaded the bases with one out when Emodi drove in two with a double to left field. Will Robertson’s groundout made it 10-7. Robertson finished with a career-high six RBIs.
Creighton (4-2) led 7-5 in the eighth inning before UC Davis (2-5) scored single runs in the eighth and ninth. With the score 7-7, the Aggies had the winning run at third base with one out, but reliever Jonah Smith entered and got the Jays out of the jam.
Smith, a transfer from Abilene Christian, also pitched the 10th inning to earn his first win with CU. Thomas Luevano pitched a perfect 11th for his first career save.
Emodi, Robertson and Clark Brinkman combined to go 11 for 17 with 10 RBIs. Emodi and Brinkman tied career highs with four hits. Brinkman also scored three times, while Emodi had two doubles and three RBIs. Robertson had three hits and drove in five of his six runs in the first four innings.
Creighton opens a three-game series Friday at 4 p.m. at Central Arkansas.
