Villarreal opens disciplinary proceedings against Ruben Semedo

Villarreal has said that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against defender Ruben Semedo, following reports that he was arrested after an altercation.

The Spanish club expressed its "maximum concern" and stated that it will "ensure appropriate disciplinary action is taken with the utmost severity and rigor based on the seriousness of the events."

The statement was issued after the Spanish press reported that the Portuguese footballer was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday for allegedly getting into a fight with a man last week.

The police did not immediately confirm the information about the arrest.
