Salsa and American Football in Mexico

Víctor Cruz, former receiver for the New York Giants, visited Mexico and spoke about his experiences on the gridiron at the Advertising Week Latin America, a leaders event that had its first edition in Mexico. He even danced to Puerto Rican music with one of the attendees, showcasing his salsa moves.

“Of course, I miss it,” the player said with a laugh when asked if he would like to return to playing in the NFL and with the Giants - whom he considers “the best team in the world”. He was left without a team in February 2017 when the Chicago Bears decided not to keep him on their practice squad. “I love football, I love being on the field and making some catches, but this phase of my life is also very good,” he added, referring to his other activities, such as his podcast The Victor Cruz Show, where he talks about fashion, sports, music, and other topics.

But missing last season doesn't mean retirement is already in Víctor Cruz's plans. His idea is to explore options with a team that may need his services and sign with them.

“My plans for next year are to continue playing football, see what happens with which team I could play for,” said the receiver completely in Spanish. “My advice to all kids is to work hard to achieve what they want to be, whether it's a teacher, a football player. Work really hard because something good will happen when you're doing things right,” advised the winner of Super Bowl XLVI with the New York team.

He added that one of the moments he remembers most from his career is the Super Bowl he competed in, his debut against the Jets in the preseason, and even mentioned that he would like Michael B. Jordan to portray him if a biographical film about him was made.

In six years with the Giants, Cruz accumulated 303 receptions for 4,549 yards and 25 touchdowns, as well as a championship ring and a Pro Bowl call.
