Greek Soccer League deducts points from Olympiacos

The Greek Soccer League deducted three points from Olympiacos as a punishment for the pitch invasion carried out by their supporters after losing to AEK Athens (2-1) on February 4th.

The reigning Greek champion also received a fine of 90,000 euros and will have to play their next two home matches behind closed doors, including the derby against Panathinaikos.

This sanction leaves Olympiacos in third place in the standings, seven points behind leaders AEK and potentially nine points behind PAOK if the Thessaloniki club wins against Larissa in a postponed match on Monday.

After losing to AEK, dozens of fans from the Piraeus club forcefully entered the pitch at Karaïskaki Stadium, destroyed advertising panels, and lit flares, leading to riot police using tear gas.

There had already been confrontations between a hundred Ultras from Olympiacos and law enforcement before the match. The violent individuals had thrown stones at the bus that transported AEK Athens' players to the stadium.
