The Manchester United won 2-0 against Huddersfield with a goal from the Chilean Alexis Sánchez, who scored his first goal since joining Jose Mourinho's team, on a day when Manchester City drew 1-1 at Burnley's stadium.
'Mou' described the atmosphere at Old Trafford as very "passive" on Saturday in Alexis Sánchez's debut at Manchester United's stadium.
The Chilean forward, who arrived at United last month from Arsenal, scored his first goal with the club in the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield in the Premier League.
"The atmosphere was a bit passive, and there isn't much" enthusiasm in the stands, said Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach believes that the United fans should behave more like those of Portsmouth, a club that is now in the third division of English football.
Mourinho recalled visiting Portsmouth's Fratton Park stadium when he was in charge of Chelsea, and said that "it's a small stadium, with an absolutely incredible atmosphere".
Although United closed the gap to the Premier League leader, the distance between Josep Guardiola's team and Mourinho's team is significant. Manchester City, despite losing two points, maintains a thirteen-point advantage over its closest pursuer. They still have a very important cushion to face the second half of the championship with tranquility.
