Japan is not only a country with ancient and rare traditions. It is also capable of creating new and outrageous customs like this one that has gone viral on YouTube and happens every year-end.

Japan

Japan does it again on YouTube. If the Japanese country can reinvent their traditions to give rise to the weirdest news, who says they can't create new oddities and turn them into tradition? This is one of them: an unusual soccer match between three professional players and 100 children!

This unusual encounter is part of a tradition of outrageous sports challenges that accompany the end of the year in Japan. The televised event, at the end of 2017, has been circulating on social media and is definitely worth watching again regardless of the date.

The game was set up like this: three players from the Japanese first division (in this case the international players Yosuke Ideguchi, Hotaru Yamaguchi, and Hiroshi Kiyotake) face off against 100 young boys from different youth categories and teams on a regulation field.

The children were divided into 10 goalkeepers, 30 defenders, 30 midfielders, and 30 forwards. The goal of the trio was to score in the opposing net, while it would count as a goal for the children every time they could get the ball out of the field. The result was 2-1. Who won? See for yourself.
