The Navojoa Mayos revived in the final of the Mexican Pacific League by coming back from two defeats and tying the series at two games each after defeating the Culiacan Tomateros today by 5-3.
For the second consecutive night and on the road, the Navojoa team silenced the stadium starting from the second inning when Paul Leon hit a home run to put them up 2-0. But before the inning ended, Fernando Perez, with a sacrifice fly, brought Andy Wilkins to home plate to narrow the gap for the home team.
Just in the third inning, a hit by Ronnie Mustelier brought in two more runs for the Tomateros to take the lead, and it was not until the sixth inning that the Mayos, fighting against the current, tied the score with a home run by Jesse Castillo.
But in the eighth inning, Max Ramirez brought in another run that put the Mayos back in the lead 4-3, and Paul Leon made things even more difficult for the Tomateros when he hit a ball inside the field that scored another run, making it a two-run difference.
However, the Mayos had a scare in the bottom of the ninth inning, as Culiacan had men on first and second base, but Puerto Rican Daniel Moskos was able to get the 27th out to tie the series, which now returns to Navojoa to determine the champion, who will have to win two out of three games.
