SACRAMENTO, California, USA
Vince Carter, 40, scored 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Sacramento Kings held on Saturday to beat the Denver Nuggets 106-98.
De'Aron Fox scored 18 points and seven assists, Willie Cauley-Stein added 17 points, and Buddy Hield contributed 14 points.
Sacramento led by 13 points early in the fourth quarter, but Denver rallied back. Trey Lyles' layup brought the Nuggets within 92-89 with 5:22 remaining. Cauley-Stein scored consecutive layups for the Kings, and after a three-pointer by Will Barton for the Nuggets, Hield made a shot and Coleman added a three-pointer to extend Sacramento's lead.
The Kings had lost four straight games.
Lyles led Denver with 19 points, Jamal Murray scored 18, and Will Barton and Gary Harris each added 17 points.
The defeat ended a frustrating night for Denver, who played their second consecutive game. The Nuggets committed 26 turnovers, their season-high, missed four consecutive free throws, and head coach Mike Malone, who previously coached Sacramento, received a technical foul. Sacramento capitalized on almost all of Denver's mistakes and scored 40 points off turnovers.
