Charros overturn the score and take the victory from Tomateros
Not even receiving two early runs knocked down Charros' hopes. Last night, Jalisco showed timely hitting and with good management from manager Roberto Vizcarra, they turned the score around against Tomateros to take the victory by a score of 4-2, tying the repechage series of the Mexican Pacific League at one game each. Starting tomorrow, the blue troop will host the culichis for three consecutive games in Zapopan, where they will seek to take the maximum possible advantage and even finish the series without returning to Culiacán.
The home team opened the scoring in the first inning. Championbat Sebastián Elizalde hit a home run and took Rico Noel to make it 2-0.
It was in the fifth inning when Jalisco's reaction started. Gabriel Gutiérrez hit a home run to close the gap to one run.
In the sixth inning, the score was tied with a run from Yordanys Linares who took advantage of Amadeo Zazueta's bunt and José Manuel Rodríguez's base hit.
In the seventh, Agustín Murillo began the comeback with a double, and scored with another double from Donnie Dewees.
And in the last inning, Japhet Amador hit a single, followed by the pinch-runner Carlos Figueroa, who stole a base and then scored with Gutiérrez's hit for the final score of 4-2.
In the pitching, Charros' starter, David Reyes, left the game without a decision after pitching four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits, two runs, and striking out one opponent. Jeff Ibarra, Manuel Flores, who ended up getting the win (1-0, 0.00), Brandon Cunniff, Rommie Lewis, and Sergio Romo closed the game and earned the save.
Salvador Valdez was the starter for Culiacán and also went without a decision after pitching six complete innings, giving up four hits, issuing one walk, allowing two runs, and striking out one.
Fun fact
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be the days when Jalisco hosts Tomateros. The team that wins four games advances to the semifinals.
