The negotiations reached a successful outcome and from today Vincenzo Montella has been officially announced as the new coach of Sevilla in Spain, replacing Eduardo Berizzo and with a contract until June 2019.
The 43-year-old Italian coach had been out of work since being dismissed by AC Milan a month ago. However, even though the discussions were positive, the announcement could not be made official until the coach's lawyers reached a termination agreement with the Italian club.
It is expected that Montella will arrive in Spain on Friday afternoon, once he has signed his departure from Milan. There is great expectation in the Sevillian team that the Italian can improve Sevilla's campaign, as they are currently in fifth position in LaLiga Santander with 29 points.
Vincenzo Montella will have a great challenge to face, especially because in just a few days he will have two matches to play: the first one in the Copa del Rey against Cádiz on January 3rd, and three days later, on the 6th, he will have to face Real Betis in the 18th round of LaLiga. During this time, he will have to instill in his players, at least, the basic ideas of his playing style.
