Bayern Munich signs German forward Sandro Wagner as Robert Lewandowski's strike partner

The prayers of Robert Lewandowski were heard and Bayern Munich signed German forward Sandro Wagner to be the attacking partner of the Polish star, the football club announced on Thursday.

Wagner joins from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, with whom he played 50 matches and scored 14 goals; this good performance led him to be selected by Germany to participate in the previous Confederations Cup, where the Germans were crowned champions.

"I am extremely happy, for me it is a long journey that comes to an end, I am going back home, to my club, to my home. I am very happy to have achieved it; Bayern is the best team in Germany, one of the best in the world; when the offer came, I didn't have to think much," said the 30-year-old forward.

Last October, Robert Lewandowski mentioned that "it would be good if I had a little more rest time. At the moment, there is no replacement in my position, but no player can play 90 minutes every three days throughout the season," so the German board got to work and signed the ideal forward.

The sports director of the Bavarian team, Hasan Salihamidzic, said he was pleased with the arrival of another German international to the club, so he was convinced that Sandro's presence would raise the team's level.

Wagner was formed in the youth categories of Bayern Munich and will wear the number two on his back, a somewhat atypical digit for a center forward.
