The elimination in the semi-finals of the Copa Sudamericana and the quarter-finals of the Liga Aguila were a strong blow to Julio Avelino Comesaña's head, which is why the Uruguayan coach ended up leaving his position on the bench of Junior de Barranquilla.
However, it took just over a week for the club from the Atlantic coast to confirm through social media the return of Alexis Mendoza to take the vacant position left by Comesaña.

Mendoza already coached Junior during the 2015/2016 season, during which he led the Barranquilla team to compete in several finals, playing attractive and effective football.
In addition to the change of coach, a strong roster overhaul is expected in Junior, which will once again break the market to build a solid squad to compete in the 2018 Libertadores.
