German driver Daniel Abt disqualified from Formula E race in Hong Kong
German driver Daniel Abt, winner of the second race of the Formula E World Championship in Hong Kong on Sunday, has been disqualified after the race for violating technical regulations.
The competition's organization explains on its website that the driver from Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team was disqualified after technical checks conducted at the end of the race.
During these checks, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) observed that the components of Daniel Abt's car did not match those in his passport.
This gives Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra) the victory in the second race in Hong Kong.
In response to this decision, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team has announced that it will file an appeal, claiming it was "an administrative error."
"The components used are identical and fully comply with the approval," they reported in a statement.
