Construction of Villa de los Aletas will be finished in January 2019
More than two months after the start of the construction of Villa de los Aletas in Villa El Salvador, the Organizing Committee of Lima 2019 (Copal) assured that the most important venue of the XVIII Pan American Games will be ready six months before the competition, in January 2019. Carlos Neuhaus, president of Copal, explained that the United Kingdom will provide advice to the country through a government-to-government agreement that aims for the construction of Villa de los Atletas to be carried out with a high standard of quality.

The Villa will house athletes and international delegations
The Villa will house athletes and international delegations that will gather in Lima from July 26th to August 11th to participate in the XVIII Pan American Games and from August 23rd to September 1st for the 6th Parapan American Games Lima 2019. It will be a construction of seven towers with 19 and 20 floors, with eight apartments per floor.
Neuhaus recalled that at the end of the games, Villa de los Atletas will become a housing project that will benefit Peruvian families, according to Andina news agency.
The Pan American Games will have the participation of the 41 National Olympic Committees that make up PanAmSports (formerly Pan American Sports Organization - Odepa) and will bring together 6,664 athletes who will compete in 39 sports and 62 disciplines. Meanwhile, the Parapan American Games will bring together 1,890 athletes who will participate in 17 sports and 18 disciplines.
Neuhaus also announced that the National Stadium will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Pan American Games. The torch relay for both sporting events will start in the city of Cusco and reach Lima after 41 days, after visiting the country's main tourist attractions.
