Saints Extend Winning Streak to Eight with Overtime Victory over Redskins
The New Orleans Saints stretched their winning streak to eight games on Sunday, defeating the Washington Redskins 34-31 in overtime. New Orleans rallied from a 15-point deficit in the final six minutes of regulation.
In overtime, they secured the win with a field goal. Mark Ingram capped off a performance of 131 rushing yards with consecutive carries of 20 and 31 yards in overtime.
This set the stage for Wil Lutz's 28-yard field goal, which sealed the victory. Drew Brees threw for 385 yards and two touchdowns. He completed all 11 of his passes for 164 yards and his only two touchdowns in the final two possessions of regulation. His first touchdown pass went to tight end Josh Hill, with 2:53 minutes left to play.
The last touchdown came at the hands of Alvin Kamara, with 1:05 remaining. The Saints (8-4) set up their final drive by stopping Samaje Perine on third and one, just before the two-minute warning, when a first down would have allowed Washington (4-6) to run out the clock.
