Ezekiel Elliott Cancels Suspension Appeal

Dallas Cowboys' running back, Ezekiel Elliott, has canceled his appeal for the six-game suspension handed down by the National Football League (NFL) and will continue to serve his punishment over the next five weeks.

Elliott's representatives, Rocky Arceneaux and Frank Salzano, released a statement on behalf of their client confirming that the Cowboys' running back will comply with the suspension imposed by the NFL.

"After careful deliberation and review of the decisions made by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Elliott has decided to cancel any further appeal and will fulfill the remainder of his suspension," mentioned Elliott's representatives in the statement shared by NFL.com.

"Elliott prefers to close this matter with the best intentions for himself, as well as for his teammates, family, and friends," the statement continued and added, "This decision in no way implies an admission of wrongdoing."

According to Arceneaux and Salzano, the league's star running back is satisfied with the legal battle he waged against the NFL, as it "exposed a mismanagement of the disciplinary process" by the sports association.

The second-year NFL's running back will be eligible to return on December 24, in the Cowboys-Seahawks matchup of Week 16 of the NFL.

22-year-old Elliott was accused in July 2016 of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Tiffany Thompson; the NFL imposed a six-game suspension on him for violating the league's personal conduct policy, a punishment that went into effect last week.
