Pep Guardiola expresses his concern about the political situation in Catalonia
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, once again expressed his dissatisfaction on Friday regarding the political situation in Catalonia and expressed his desire for "the political prisoners to be released soon from prison."
"I hope and wish that the politicians who are in prison are released as soon as possible. I am very worried because if it has happened to them, it can happen to all of us," said the Spanish coach at the pre-match press conference before the Premier League game against Arsenal.
"We just wanted to vote. They (the eight members of the Catalan government) are in prison for an accepted electoral program, and it is terrifying to have regressed so much in time," he added.
"Hopefully on the 21st (December) there will be clean elections and the Catalan Parliament will return to what it should be. And above all, that those imprisoned for their ideas are released soon and their families no longer suffer," Guardiola declared.
On Thursday, Carmen Lamela, the judge of the National Court of Madrid, ordered unconditional imprisonment without bail for eight dismissed members of the Catalan government - Oriol Junqueras, Joaquim Forn, Raúl Romeva, Carles Mundó, Jordi Turull, Josep Rull, Meritxell Borrás, and Dolors Bassa - for their role in the independence process of the Spanish region.
