Will Yu Darvish be the poison of the Dodgers?

The Japanese pitcher has experience against the Astros as he has faced them twice so far this year.

Although technology and statistics help players better understand the challenges they will face with the opposing team, nothing beats the point of experience. And tonight's starter for the Dodgers has that great advantage.

Yu Darvish joined the Angels in the final stretch of the season to strengthen the rotation and tonight he will take the mound to open Game 3 of the World Series knowing very well the opponents he will have at the batter's box.

The Japanese pitcher faced the Astros twice this season, with a record of 1-1, allowing four runs in 12 innings of work, with four walks and 12 strikeouts.

"I think that doesn't matter much, it's good that I have already pitched here but the development of the game can be very different from the others," said the Japanese pitcher. "It's good that I have already pitched here and faced them and that gives me some kind of advantage but it's something I don't think about."

On June 2, he faced the Astros at home and lost after giving up three runs in five innings, while on June 12, he faced these batters again and came out with the win. In that game, he excelled by pitching seven innings with just one hit and one run.

In his career, Darvish has made six appearances at Minute Maid Park, where he has a record of 4-1 with a 2.16 ERA.

"I'm not going to change much but for them I'm going to be a different pitcher, I'm going to have a different selection of pitches, so they're going to see some different pitches," the Japanese pitcher concluded.
