ATLÉTICO DE MADRID DONATES €50,000 TO 'SAVE THE CHILDREN' FOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF IN MEXICO

The CEO of Atlético de Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil, delivered a donation of €50,000 to the humanitarian organization 'Save the Children' in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, on Friday. The funds will be used to assist those affected by the earthquakes that struck Mexico last September.

The donation was presented in the presence of the Governor of the state of San Luis Potosí, Juan Manuel Carreras, and the CEO of Atlético San Luis Potosí, Jacobo Payán, whose team is owned by the Madrid-based club.

In September, Mexico experienced three days of earthquakes on the 7th, 19th, and 23rd, resulting in a total of 421 deaths in Mexico City and the states of Puebla, Morelos, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, in the central and southern parts of the country.

On September 23rd, prior to the match between Atlético and Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid, a Mexican flag was displayed in the stands and a fundraising campaign by 'Save the Children' and the Atlético de Madrid Foundation was launched.

In addition to collecting donations through Save The Children's website and observing a minute of silence in memory of the victims during the match, the Atlético club donated €50,000, which was presented on Friday.
