Benfica closes in on Porto
Benfica continues its pursuit of Porto, who remains in first place, and tonight secured a victory to bring them within three points of the Dragons, who currently sit atop the Liga Portugal.
The team, which includes Mexican forward Raúl Jiménez, who came on as a substitute in the 70th minute, defeated Paços de Ferreira 2-0. Paços de Ferreira fell in their visit to Lisbon, with goals from Franco Servi and Jonas.
The former América forward came on as a substitute when his team was already leading 1-0. In the final minutes, the Eagles sealed the victory with another goal, securing the win.
With this triumph, Benfica reached 16 points, trailing Porto by five points. Porto, on the other hand, defeated Portimonense 5-0 yesterday.
