Cuauhtémoc Blanco spoke about the reasons why Ricardo Peláez did not let him retire with América, arguing that his presence would take away the limelight from Miguel Herrera.

"We talked on the phone and I told you that I had spoken with the boss, that he was already on his way there, to which you (Peláez) responded that I did not fit into your plans because I would take away the limelight from Piojo (Miguel Herrera)", Blanco declared.

These words were discredited by Ricardo Peláez, who said that Blanco's claims are a lie according to him; he also made it clear that he always had the freedom to make managerial decisions, as he made all of them himself.

"When you say a lie so many times, it becomes true; the gentleman (Blanco) is lying. I respect you, we have already talked about it. The decision was mine, whether it was wrong or not, it stands. Fortunately, I always had the freedom to make managerial decisions," the executive said.
