The third place went to Kenyan Rodgers Ondati with a time of 2:18:19 and the fourth position was for Mexican Juan Luis Barrios with a time of 2:18:31.
The 35th Mexico City Marathon started at the city's main square, after the 40,000 participants sang the Mexican national anthem, to cover the 42.195 kilometers through some of the city's main streets.
Barrios, who won the Mexico City Half Marathon with a time of 1:06:01 hours, gave hope to the Mexican people of winning this Sunday's great victory, as he was fighting in the leading group for a long time.
At around the 37 kilometers, Barrios started to fall behind and only Kebede and Korir remained at the top, fighting elbow to elbow, and it was around 500 meters from the finish line when Kebede decided to go ahead and cross the line in first place.
The mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Ángel Mancera, presented the medals to the first-place finishers for both men and women.
