MLS: Football in the United States
The MLS is a league that in recent years has been trying to compete with European football. It took a while, but now it enjoys the moment within an American sports environment.

In 2016, the MLS rose to sixth place on the list of the most followed leagues live, with a stadium attendance of 21,692 spectators, surpassing the Italian Serie A or the French Ligue 1.
The MLS is played first with the regular season and then the playoffs. The most recent champions were the Seattle Sounders. And there is a salary cap (3.875 million dollars in 2017), although the so-called 'Beckham Law' (named after enabling the Englishman's arrival at the Galaxy in 2007) allows for three Designated Players who do not count towards the salary cap.
This is how Kaká, Pirlo, Villa, Giovinco arrived. Some, like Andrea Pirlo, have been opposed to this salary cap, considering it as an impediment to the growth of the championship.
The plan of MLS commissioner Don Garber is to bring in players in their prime instead of having top players come to retire. Giovinco is the example.
