Simon Kjaer: From Promising Prospect to Expensive Signing
When he started to stand out in the ranks of Palermo and later Wolfsburg several seasons ago, a career full of success seemed to await Simon Kjaer. However, after his time at Roma and later Lille, he had to go to Turkey to truly shine.
He did so in the ranks of Fenerbahçe, and now at 28 years old, he returns to one of the top leagues on the continent as a seasoned player. He has gone from being that promising center-back that several European giants coveted, to reinforcing the defense of an established team in Europe like Sevilla.
Eduardo Berizzo's team strengthens its defense by signing Kjaer for a sum of €11 million, making him the most expensive defender in Sevilla's history. This is a club that is more accustomed to big sales than high investments. Kjaer has signed with the club until 2021.
