Atlante's Forward Lizandro Echeverría Out for Four to Six Months Due to Injury

The Cancun-born forward, Lizandro Echeverría, scorer of two goals in Atlante's 4-1 victory over Cafetaleros de Tapachula, will be out of the field for four to six months due to an injury in his right foot, as reported by the Azulgrana club.

"I will come back, I will be a champion with Atlante, this hurts but it won't stop me, Licha is here to stay," stated Echeverría upon being discharged from the hospital in this city, where he was attended in the first instance.

"Lizandro (Echeverría) will be treated and taken care of in an impeccable way, he has all our support; Atlante will take charge of his rehabilitation and soon we will celebrate his goals to become champions," assured the Azulgrana president, Luis Cámara Patrón.

The Atlante striker left the game in the 12th minute after hitting the opponent's post, after scoring his second goal of the match against Cafetaleros in the first round of the 2017 Apertura Tournament of Ascenso MX.

Raúl "Potro" Gutiérrez's triumphant debut as the Azulgrana coach was the result of goals scored by the Quintana Roo natives Lizandro Echeverría and Luis Ernesto "Charol" Reyes.

In the first minute, Atlante managed to take the lead with Echeverría's first goal, who completed the brace at minute 12. Dr. Fernando Ortiz, traumatologist at the private hospital Amerimed, where the player was treated, diagnosed a dislocation in the instep of the right foot.

He specified that the injury will be treated in Mexico City on Monday by Dr. Luis Cadena, a specialist with experience in the care of Mexican soccer players.

The Azulgrana club indicated that Lizandro Echeverría will travel on Monday for his evaluation and surgical intervention, and it is estimated that he will be back on the field within four to six months.

In the meantime, Potros del Atlante will play in the Copa MX on Tuesday in Puebla, and on Saturday they will play the second round of the Ascenso Liga against Zacatepec.

"I appreciate the whole team, the fans for all their expressions of support, affection, and support. I will do everything to come back to the field soon, I won't give up," said Lizandro Echeverría in response to concerns about his physical condition and recovery.

Azulgrana doctor Eduardo Moreno accompanied the forward's medical discharge at noon and will oversee the care of the Cancun-born forward at his home and will be present for the appointment with Dr. Luis Cadena.

"I went all in for the ball, I knew I would hit the post, I tried to avoid it but couldn't, when I slipped I couldn't prevent the fall and my foot collided with the base; immediately I knew it was something serious, fortunately it didn't break. Now I have to have a lot of willpower to face the process, rehabilitate myself, and return to the field," explained the forward.
