The Betis Rebuilding: Andrés Guardado and Other Key Players for a New Season

Last season, Real Betis obtained 39 points, placing the Seville team in 15th place in Spain. This result was a complete dissatisfaction for their fans. Therefore, far from the relegation zone, the directive headed by Ángel Haro has decided to bet on a team reconstruction. This includes Mexican midfielder Andrés Guardado as one of the main gears for the offensive game, as well as other crucial players who are expected to perform at a high level in order for the "verdiblancos" to fight for European positions.

Guardado arrives in Seville after a couple of seasons with PSV Eindhoven, where he managed to reaffirm himself as a player. The Netherlands served as a platform for Andrés to regain confidence and compete at his highest level. Dressed in the red and white jersey, he won a couple of individual awards, such as the MVP of the previous season, as well as a league title. It was for these reasons that Betis turned their attention to him, in addition to the recommendation of his former coach, Phillip Cocu.

"I have mixed feelings; PSV meant a huge growth in my career. It hurt to make the decision to leave the Netherlands, but coming to Betis is the best decision of my career at this moment... It didn't take much to convince me to come here, and I am very happy to arrive in Seville. I am grateful and I want to perform at my best," summarized the captain of the Mexican national team during his presentation.

Joining Guardado in midfield will be Cristian Tello, who also arrived in this transfer window for Betis. The versatile 25-year-old player, who was formed in La Masía, returns to Spain after a spell in Italy, where he played for Fiorentina for a season. His speed in ball control and his ability to provide services for goal-scoring opportunities are his specialties. It is expected that he will form a partnership on the wings with Joaquín, a legend for the Seville club.

After several years away, Pedro León has returned home. The center forward left Betis B in 2011 with the aim of establishing himself in order to eventually return to Seville at some point in his career. Today, the club that trained him has brought him back to lead Quique Setién's attack. The 10 goals he scored last season with Osasuna, combined with the 23 he registered the previous season with Elche, support the signing of a striker who also knows how to move outside the box and play as a second striker. He will be another key player for the club and their aspirations.
