The Colombian Rigoberto Urán wins in the Tour de France

Rigoberto Urán from Colombia manages to win in the Tour de France. The Cannondale cyclist arrived first in stage 9 after winning a photo sprint against five other cyclists, including the British leader Chris Froome.

With this result, Urán climbed to fourth position in the general classification, 55 seconds behind Froome. Only preceded by the Italian Fabio Aru, second at 18 seconds from the leader, and the Frenchman Romain Bardet, third at 51.

The 30-year-old cyclist achieved the first victory for Colombia in this year's Tour, in this stage of 181.5 km, in which his compatriot Nairo Quintana lost contact with the favorites in the last mountain pass, the Mont du Chat.

Quintana was left behind just before the final kilometer of the last ascent, about 27 km from the finish line, and arrived in tenth position, 1 minute and 15 seconds behind Urán. In the general classification, Quintana is now eighth, 2 minutes and 13 seconds behind Froome.

PREVIEW:

"In Dole, we have gotten into the rhythm. We hope the legs continue to be good. The stage to Nantua will be a very important test," said the Movistar cyclist, after finishing in 20th position in the eighth stage, only 50 seconds behind the winner, Lilian Calmejane.

Quintana knows that in the next race he is playing a lot for his hopes of becoming the first Colombian to win the Tour de France. Meanwhile, his compatriot Esteban Chaves (Orica) also hopes to improve in the general classification, where he currently occupies 26th position, 2 minutes and 44 seconds behind Froome.

Meanwhile, the leader of the classification, Chris Froome, maintains his strategy of earning points with his team (Sky). "The legs have responded well. We have had our team cyclists lead and work for the group," concluded the British cyclist.
