Tennis player Novak Djokovic advances to the second round of the Wimbledon tournament
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic advanced to the second round of the Wimbledon tournament on Tuesday after the retirement due to injury of his opponent, Slovak Martin Klizan, when the current world number four was leading 6-3 and 2-0 and abandoned due to injury.
The Serbian, second seed and three-time winner at Wimbledon, will face the Czech Adam Pavlasek, the 136th world player, in the next round.
Djokovic came to Wimbledon after winning the grass tournament in Eastbourne, his second title of the season after Doha.
Despite this, the 30-year-old Serbian is one of the two players, along with the Spanish Rafael Nadal, who can snatch the world number one from the British Andy Murray at Wimbledon.
In 2016, Djokovic, who is seeking his thirteenth Grand Slam title, was eliminated in the third round of Wimbledon, his worst result since 2008.
