The Italian midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini officially became a new player for Roma and the third signing of the Spanish sports director Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo "Monchi" for the capital team.
"AS Roma announces that it has signed with Sassuolo the contract for the definitive acquisition of Lorenzo Pellegrini's sports rights in exchange of 10 million euros," reads the club's official statement.
The Italian U21 international, who was a starter in the semifinal of the European Championship of that category last Tuesday against Spain, will reunite with coach Eusebio Di Francesco at Roma, who launched him last season while in charge of Sassuolo.
"We are proud of Pellegrini's return home," said Monchi in statements released by Roma's official website, referring to the fact that the midfielder was trained in the capital team's youth academy.
"Lorenzo has gained important experience at Sassuolo in these years and we are sure that he will contribute to the team's growth process," added the former sports director of Sevilla.
Pellegrini is Roma's third addition in this transfer window, after Mexican international Héctor Moreno from PSV Eindhoven and Dutch international Rick Karsdorp from Feyenoord.
