World Taekwondo
The popular acronym 'WTF', frequently used in social networks and whose meaning in English is "What the fuck?", has become a problem for the International Taekwondo Federation, which has used it as identifying initials since 1973.
So much so, that its leaders have decided to do away with it in favor of 'WT' ("World Taekwondo"), without the final 'F'.
"In the digital age, the acronym of our federation had become a carrier of a negative connotation unrelated to our organization, so it is important to change it in order to address our followers in a more correct way," explained WT President Chungwon Choue on the federation's website.
The new name and logo reflect "a willingness to evolve and adapt with the aim of being suitable for today's young audience," added the president.
Both the new name and the new logo were created just before the start of the World Taekwondo Championships, which have been taking place in Muju, South Korea, since last Saturday.
