Sergio Pérez laments collision with teammate Esteban Ocon in Baku
Mexican driver Sergio Pérez regretted the collision he had with his teammate Esteban Ocon that took away the possibility of getting on the podium at the European Grand Prix in Azerbaijan.
"Such a shame how the race turned out. I feel very sorry for my team, they have worked very hard for an opportunity like the one we missed today. There was nothing more I could have done to avoid the contact with my teammate, I had nowhere else to go," wrote 'Checo' alongside a photo on Instagram.
Prior to the incident with Ocon - which occurred on lap 21 - the Mexican driver was in third place behind Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. Although he returned after 20 minutes, he had to retire from the race definitively on lap 41.
Despite this, he assured that he will not stop striving for better results. "Keep working and continue with this great season, I will keep with me the incredible race up until the moment of contact. We will come back stronger, thank you all for your support."
Daniel Ricciardo won the Azerbaijan GP, followed by Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll (Williams).
