About Tepito's Gardenias

Tepito's Gardenias is a soccer team composed of transgender and transvestite individuals who have their peak moment every October 4th during the celebration of San Francisco Asis in Barrio Bravo.

With over 50 years of tradition, the game at the neighborhood's 'Maracaná' has become a classic for everyone.

The team was founded by Doña Bárbara with the goal of promoting equality and avoiding discrimination through the traditions that the neighborhood has.

With more than 10-centimeter long eyelashes, makeup, styled hair, tight blouse, and leggings, each of the players takes the field at Deportivo Maracaná, where they play against male teams.

After the game, attendees stay to take pictures with the players and ask for autographs.

Most of the football players have their own aesthetics in Tepito and are highly respected. The Gardenias are considered a pride for the entire Barrio Bravo.
