The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee Considered

Within a maximum of six months, all the main venues of the sports event will be under construction, according to the Organizing Committee of Lima 2019 (Pan American and Parapan American Games).

"By September, we expect to lay the first stone at the Pan American Village, we have committed the entire project office to make this happen. The intention is that within the six months, from June to November, we must already have the main works underway," said Carlos Neuhaus, president of the Organizing Committee of the Pan American and Parapan American Games (COPAL).

The main works referred to are: the Pan American Village, a project in San Juan de Miraflores (replacing the San Isidro project), the Villa María del Triunfo sports complex, the Videna, and the Pan American Park in Callao.

Delays?

Regarding a report from the Comptroller's Office, which identified delays in meeting deadlines, Neuhaus clarified that this report was based on the original Master Plan and did not consider the adjustments made by the Committee.

"We don't have extra time, but we are on time. We already have 62% of the venues, and we only need to make some adaptations in those places," he said.

Consortiums and Contracts

Neuhaus also mentioned that, with the departure of Odebrecht, more international companies have shown interest in participating in these works. "Many of these international companies seek partnerships with Peruvian companies and submit joint proposals," he said.

In addition, all the tenders that will be offered on June 19, in an open event for investors, will have an anti-corruption clause.

Due to an agreement signed with the British government, which provides its advice, the hiring will have international standards.

"We are going to do it with international modalities. That means, with international standards, outside the State Contracting Law, which will allow us to have a level of international transparency," he said.

Transmission

The sports event will reach 500 million viewers, and broadcasting rights will be awarded in two or three months.
