Peruvian athlete Gladys Tejeda wins gold in Guatemala
Peruvian athlete Gladys Tejeda returned to the country with the gold medal from the Cobán Half Marathon in Guatemala, which took place last Sunday.
The national athlete is preparing for the World Championships in London next August, where she will run the marathon, and she knows that these types of races help her in her training and motivate her.
"I am very proud to represent my country, especially in this tough race because of the course and the competitors," said Gladys Tejeda to the Guatemalan press after crossing the finish line.
Now, feeling more rested, she made a small assessment and assures that she is on the right track. "I feel like I'm reaching my best level," said the athlete.
With a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes and 6 seconds, she beat Kenyans Risper Gesabwa (1:15:40) and Sophy Jepchirchir (1:16:22), in a race in which close to 10 thousand runners participated.
