Once he received the TAS resolution reducing his punishment to eight games for an alleged assault on a referee, Toluca's forward, Enrique Triverio, expressed his satisfaction with this news. He had always expected this sentence as the one-year ban seemed excessive to him.
"I found the punishment they imposed on me very unfair, I was worried and didn't want to leave it like that, and I think this whole circus could have been avoided," said the Argentine forward.
He added: "I never got desperate, I was never restless because I knew it wouldn't end like this, I knew TAS would take it into consideration, review the incident, and draw a conclusion."
The Argentine mentioned that he learned from this experience to be more prudent on the field and to respect opponents and referees, but he also expects reciprocity.
"I am the same person, I was always calm about what happened, we must learn from the fact of being on a football field, we must respect and also be respected; I think both sides must give their best, both rival colleagues and referees, we must all be willing to play, officiate, and play football."
Triverio didn't stop training and hopes that this break without official football won't affect his comeback with the Toluca team in the playoffs.
