Seattle Mariners' Yovani Gallardo Gets First Win of the Season

Mexican pitcher Yovani Gallardo achieved his first win with the Seattle Mariners in the 2017 MLB season, leading his team to an 11-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

In front of 24,000 fans at the Oakland Coliseum, Gallardo (1-2) pitched for six and a third innings, allowing four hits, one run, one walk, and striking out seven batters.

Gallardo faced a total of 24 batters, striking out seven of them, after throwing 108 pitches with 67 strikes.

Andrew Triggs (3-1) took the loss for the Oakland Athletics, pitching four and two-thirds innings with five hits, one of them a home run, and six runs.

For the Mariners, Taylor Motter (5) hit a grand slam in the third inning, while Dominican player Nelson Cruz (3) hit a home run in the seventh inning with two runners on base.
