Notes on Zudikey Rodríguez's Objectives

The sprinter Zudikey Rodríguez wants to be at all costs in the London World Championship and for that she will seek the mark in another event, in the 400-meter flat race, which is an additional objective to the one she had already set for herself with the 400-meter hurdles, her strong category.

"They ask me for 56.10 seconds in the hurdles and 52 seconds in the flat race, so this year I will also be running this last modality, which is very important because it helps me with the other one, so if the mark is achieved in either of the two I would be quite happy and satisfied,

because the work has been quite intense and it should give quite a few results," said Rodríguez.

The athlete has only attended one World Championship in Osaka 2007 and on that occasion she did so as part of the 4x400-meter relay, along with Ana Guevara, and reached the final.

"It was a great experience and now I want to be in the 400-meter hurdles and, if possible, in the 400-meter flat race. I consider that by being 100 percent healthy and injury-free, those marks will easily be achieved and another goal is to break the Mexican record, and by doing that, I will be in the World Championship," said the sprinter.

Rodríguez, who is 30 years old, confessed that she will go for another Olympic cycle and where the goal is to qualify for an Olympic event individually since in the 2008 Beijing edition she participated in the women's relay.

"I am thinking about Tokyo 2020, but I will take it step by step to see how my body responds and how the result turns out each year. At this moment, I can say that I want to reach that Olympic event because now I feel very strong but I am already a veteran athlete and that is why I have to see how I feel with time," she explained.
