Australian Nick Kyrgios (#470 ATP ranking) is having a nightmare year. A wrist injury has been troubling him for many months and his prolonged inactivity has led to rumors of his retirement in 2024.

In Mike Tyson's podcast, Kyrgios was clear about it: "I'm trying to get back to competing as soon as possible because I miss tennis. Especially since I was so close to winning Wimbledon last year, I feel like I'm there and I have the potential to achieve something important."

The Australian has only played one match this season (ATP 250 Stuttgart in June) and lost to Yibing Wu in straight sets. He then had several unsuccessful attempts to return to competition until he decided to end his tennis year.

The eccentric 28-year-old player had a very successful 2022, winning the ATP 500 Washington and reaching the final of Wimbledon, among other great results.

A while ago, he warned: "When I decide to come back, I'll return where I belong." For now, Kyrgios is expected to possibly return in the 2024 Australian Open.
