Leonardo Lavalle
was presented by the Mexican Tennis Federation as the captain of the Davis Cup for the series against China on September 16 and 17 in Mérida, and where the former tennis player already contemplates Rodrigo Pacheco, Ernesto Escobedo, Miguel Ángel Reyes, and Santiago González, to face that commitment.
"We have already given each other the versions of what was happening, and I also understand their position, but it was not something against me, but because of how things happened, and I feel that this will not be solved overnight, but I do want to make something very clear as captain, that I want to have the best team and that we leave all the politics behind once the gatherings begin because China will be a very complicated rival," Lavalle said.

A few days ago, the tennis players Rodrigo, Ernesto, Miguel Ángel, and Santiago expressed their dissatisfaction with the federation since they were not taken into account for decision-making within the team, such as the appointment of the captain and the venue. Therefore, the head of the federation, Carlos González, mentioned that they have yielded to some of the players' requests, but in others, there is no way to do it, such as the definition of the captain.
"In their letter of requests, they indicated that they wanted to influence who would be the captain of the Davis Cup, and it is a point where the federation cannot be flexible, that is, they cannot appoint their own boss. As managers, we are not here to destroy ideals, but to see what can be adapted and grown, and they gave us their concepts, so we are still in discussions, and we want to have open dialogue to listen to some ideas that are important, such as the timing for organization," said Carlos González, President of the FMT (Mexican Tennis Federation).
Leo Lavalle indicated that the team will meet one week before the competition, and he already has his A team. In singles, Rodrigo Pacheco and Ernesto Escobedo would play, while in doubles, Santiago González and Miguel Ángel Reyes Varela.
