Nick Kyrgios Tennis Showdown
Nick Kyrgios has captured the spotlight this season, not only for his occasionally undisciplined behavior on the court, but for his talent on the ATP tour, which has led him to conquer three men's doubles titles including the Australian Open and a singles title in Washington, in addition to reaching the Wimbledon final.
At 27 years old, there is no doubt that he is experiencing the best year of his career, and together with Gaël Monfils, he will participate in an exhibition match on November 9th at the Arena Ciudad de México. Tennis Showdown had to postpone their event with Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev from last March until next year, but the organizers sought out new opponents so that the fans of the sport wouldn't have to wait long.
"Hi guys, I really can't wait to be in Mexico City for the Tennis Showdown this November. I hope to see all my fans there," said Nick in a short message on his social media.

The last time the Australian was in Mexican territory was at the Mexican Open in 2020, but he had to withdraw due to a hand injury in his first round match and couldn't defend his title. He was booed by the local fans who felt he abandoned the game because he was losing. People close to Nick Kyrgios commented that the lack of support from the crowd hurt him deeply and he vowed not to return to Acapulco. In an interview for Milenio-La Afición, Lalo Rodríguez, director of Tennis Showdown, commented the following:
"That's what happened, but not so much with the public. You know he's generally a temperamental person, he loves the people of Mexico. We have a personal relationship with the people around him, beyond the managers. As you know, he doesn't have a coach, but with his friends. With him, the relationship is casual. The definitive yes comes with Gaël Monfils, whom we had hired first and with whom there is an even closer relationship. He proposed Nick and it was exactly what we wanted. This helped us to push harder and negotiate successfully, he's very happy. He's really looking forward to coming to Mexico and his girlfriend is also very excited, she has helped him a lot this year."
In addition to having the presence of No. 20 and the Frenchman Monfils (No. 32), Tennis Showdown will also feature a doubles match between the Grand Slam winners, the Colombian pair composed of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah against the Mexicans Santiago González and Gerardo López. The musical part will be accompanied by a show by Christian Castro after the matches.
