Nick Kyrgios: A Remarkable Year for the Australian Player
The controversial Australian player Nick Kyrgios seems to have finally found a balance in his life that has led him to have the best year of his professional career. It all began in January when he won the doubles at home, at the Australian Open. Later, he reached the final of Wimbledon, which he lost to Novak Djokovic, and although his performance could have earned him a significant jump in the rankings, the punishment of being stripped of points for the Grand Slam had to wait.

He is once again a champion after a perfect week and three years without a singles title. Finally, at 27 years old, he is back in the Top 40 after conquering the Citi Open and winning his seventh ATP title. His mission will be to continue climbing in the rankings to have better chances in the draw of the last Grand Slam of the year. The US Open begins on August 29th in New York, and Kyrgios is already considered a favorite. In Washington, he didn't lose a single service game the entire week; out of the 64 times he served, he won every game. This number defines his current level.
“I have been in dark places, and many people have helped me get out. I am showing a strength that gives me the possibility of winning tournaments like this. I want to thank the chair umpires, with whom I always have problems, but we got along well this week. "It is simply very emotional for me. Seeing where I was last year to where I am now is simply an incredible transformation," he declared during the award ceremony.
After winning the doubles with his compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in Atlanta last week, he repeated in the men's doubles in Washington alongside the American Jack Sock. He now has three titles in this category, becoming the first player in the tournament's history to conquer both singles and doubles in the same year. He is now competing in the Montreal Masters 1000, where he will face greater challenges but can demonstrate how far he can go with his tennis for the year-end.
