Nick Kyrgios had a turbulent day in his debut against Paul Jubbs at Wimbledon. The Australian argued with the judges and spit at one of the spectators during his match.

The controversy has been associated with Nick Kyrgios since he appeared on the tennis circuit. On the second day of competition, the Australian made his debut in the 2022 edition of Wimbledon against Paul Jubbs and delivered: he won 3-2. However, there were other nuances throughout the match at the All England Club.

The broadcast images showed that the oceanic player was uncomfortable at various points in the match. In fact, the athlete had arguments with the umpire and a lineswoman. On top of that, the audience did not receive him in the best way and spent a large part of the match insulting him to make him feel in a hostile environment.

After securing a spot in the next round (he will play against Serbian Filip Krajinovic) of the third Grand Slam of the season, Kyrgios gave details of what happened on the grass. "It has been a lack of respect. Someone insulted me, called me sh**, from the audience. Is that normal? No. I don't understand why it happens all the time," he revealed.

"I love Wimbledon. It's just a generation of people who think that because they are on social media they have the right to say whatever they want and they keep doing it in real life. Because there is a fence and physically I can't do anything or say anything, because I would get in trouble," added the ATP number 40.

Kyrgios admitted that, in response to repeated reactions against him, he turned towards the crowd and spat. "At one of the people who disrespected me. Yes, yes. I wouldn't have done that to someone who supported me," he said at the press conference following his new appearance in the tournament.

To wrap up, regarding the issues with the umpires, Kyrgios acknowledged calling one of the officials a "tattletale". Without further ado, Nick stated that he does not regret using that term. "No. Why? That's what she did. I didn't do anything and she went to the referee and said something I didn't say," said the 27-year-old athlete.
