Novak Djokovic prioritizes family over ATP ranking

The number two in world tennis, Serbian Novak Djokovic, has stated that regaining the top spot in the ATP ranking is not his main priority and that he wants to dedicate more time to his son and wife.

"I consciously take into account other things that happen in my life. I can't separate my professional self as a tennis player from my self as a father, husband, son, brother, friend," Djokovic said in an interview with Serbian television RTS.

"All of that together makes me a person, a whole," the tennis player stated, according to the broadcaster's website.

However, Djokovic pointed out that "the top position (worldwide) remains a goal."

"I want to regain that position, but it is not my main priority. I will be very happy if that position comes as a result of my good performances. Of course, I also want that. I want to progress and have a long career. I don't see the end even though I'm entering my thirties," he declared.

The tennis player assured that he plays with the same passion and love as he did two or six years ago, or even "20 years ago, when I picked up the racket for the first time," he said.

"Tennis evokes intense emotions in me and as long as that is the case, I will continue playing," he said.
