Tennis player hits a judge in the eye during a match
In a match corresponding to the Davis Cup between Canada and Great Britain, a player became enraged and, by hitting a ball taken out of his pocket, brutally impacted the judge who was standing on the side of the court.
The player from the Canadian team immediately approached the victim to inquire about his condition. The incident was clearly unintentional; however, the United Kingdom team advanced to the next round by disqualification.
"What I have done is unacceptable behavior. I can promise you that it is the last time I do something like this," declared Denis Shapovalov after the punishment. In addition to the sports sanction, there is a fine of $7,000.
