The Cleveland Cavaliers once again demonstrated on Wednesday that they are one of the strongest teams in the current NBA season, after defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 137-125 at the Quicken Loans Arena.
► Warriors defeated Celtics 104-88 with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant in the NBA
Kevin Love scored 40 points, including an NBA record of 34 in the first quarter, LeBron James reached his 44th triple-double in his career, in a game where the Cleveland Cavaliers did not have much trouble.
Cleveland also set a franchise record with 20 three-pointers and showed no signs of being out of rhythm in their first game since Friday.
Love fell three points short of the league record for most points in a quarter, held by Golden State's Klay Thompson, who scored 37 points in the third quarter of the game on January 23, 2015.
Love, who set a team record for points in a single quarter, made 11 of 14 field goals, including eight of 10 three-pointers in the first period. He made his first six attempts, five of them behind the three-point arc.
► Marc Gasol celebrated in the style of Conor McGregor in the NBA
James finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists for his second triple-double of the season. Damian Lillard scored 40 points for Portland, 25 of them in the second half.
PREVIEW
They are one of the strongest teams of the season and want to shine at home. The Cleveland Cavaliers host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday (7:00 pm) at the Quicken Loans Arena for the NBA.
The current NBA champions enter the game with a win under their belt thanks to Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, who scored 25 and 21 points respectively. They defeated the Detroit Pistons 104-81.
LeBron James, the team's star player, was not able to be with his teammates this week due to a deposition in the case of a lawsuit filed by former NBA Players Association executive Billy Hunter.
This will be taken advantage of by the Portland Trail Blazers, who have not had much luck this season. They lost their last game against the New York Knicks 107-103. Without a doubt, a decisive meeting for what is to come.
