Coming from Wake Forest University, Duncan was the first overall pick in the 1997 draft and teamed up with coach Gregg Popovich, Frenchman Tony Parker, and Argentine Emanuel Ginobili to turn the Spurs into the most enduring success story in modern American sports. His reserved demeanor and a playing style based on fundamentals rather than athletic skills were the foundation of the franchise's unparalleled winning streak.

Duncan was named NBA Finals MVP three times and made the All-NBA First Team 10 times. He ranks fifth in NBA history in blocks, sixth in rebounds, and 14th in points scored.
