In addition, the native of Huancayo does not rest on her laurels and has her sights set on the next challenge: the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
"I am very happy that two Peruvian women (Kimberly García and Evelyn Inga) are bringing two medals. Evelyn is certainly very happy and so am I. I am very happy to have won this gold medal," said the athlete.
Regarding the competition in this event, García highlighted the level of her rivals. "They are girls who have been in the top 10 of the world, so we knew it was going to be quite a fight. Fortunately, we achieved the objective."
Let's remember that Kimberly García registered a time of 1h 12m 26s, a record-breaking mark, as it exceeds the world record by four minutes. The organization indicates that the track did not measure the full 20 km of the race. Despite this, it was decided that the podium would remain, but the times would not be official.
Regarding this, the Peruvian athlete said the following. "I don't know anything official yet, but I am happy with my gold medal. Now I will recover, I will go to Peru to continue preparing for the Olympic Games (Paris 2024)," she concluded.
